Parking in Monaco: tariffs, subscriptions and how it works

In Monaco you park underground. The Principality has almost no free kerb space, so nearly every car ends up in one of the 54 public car parks run by Monaco Parkings, the trading name of the government's Direction des Parkings Publics (a Service until September 2025). They are open around the clock, share a single official tariff and are cheaper than most visitors expect: the first hour is free.

What a stay costs in 2026

Prices are set each December by ministerial order. For 2026 (Arrêté Ministériel n° 2025-654) the general grid is:

After the free hour you are billed per quarter-hour, not per full hour. Between 20:00 and 08:00 the rate falls to 0.20 € per 15 minutes, which makes an evening out very cheap — except at the Casino car park, where the night rate does not apply.

Six car parks have their own prices:

• Salines, at the western entrance opposite the Jardin Exotique, is the cheapest for long stays: the first 45 minutes are free, then you pay flat bands from 7.50 €, still capped at 24 € a day.
• Abbaye, Place d'Armes, Oliviers and Bellevue, each with fewer than 60 spaces, cost a little more: 9 € for two hours and a 30 € cap per 24 hours.

A lost ticket costs a flat 25 € (35 € in the small car parks).

Finding a free space

Electronic boards on the main roads into Monaco show how many spaces each nearby car park has left. The same figures, plus a one-hour occupancy forecast, appear on the official interactive map at map.parkings.mc. Entry is by ticket at the barrier; pay at the automatic machine before returning to your car.

Two car parks, Salines and Wurtemberg (Fontvieille), can be reserved online through Monaco Parkings' Resaweb service — worth doing on event days.

Monthly subscriptions

If you live or work in Monaco, a subscription guarantees you a space at a much lower monthly cost. You are eligible if at least one of these applies:

• you live in the Principality;
• you work there;
• you manage a company domiciled there, or use a vehicle registered to one;
• you belong to a Monegasque sports federation.

There are two main families:

• Resident subscriptions, in car parks near your home: about 118.50 € a month in 2026, with a reduction for clean vehicles.
• Work subscriptions, giving 120 to 300 hours a month near your workplace: the 300-hour plan costs 105 € a month in 2026.

Apply online through the forms on parkings.mc or at the office. Popular car parks have waiting lists, so apply as early as possible after you move. For a temporary need — guests staying for a few weeks, building works at home — Monaco Parkings can exceptionally grant a non-renewable short-term subscription at 70 € a week, paid in advance, if the car park has room.

Monaco Parkings also runs a car-pooling scheme for commuters; ask about it when you apply for a work subscription.

Electric vehicles

Charging is free in most public car parks, in bays reserved for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles: you pay only for parking time. The locations are on the interactive map. Motorbikes, scooters and bicycles

Two-wheelers have their own zones and bicycle racks in many car parks, and two-wheeler subscriptions cost only about 10 to 15 € a month depending on engine size. Rules for e-scooters and e-bikes, including the under-14 ban, are in our bicycle and scooter guide.

Grand Prix and other big events

During the Grand Prix and other major events, several car parks close or change access. Monaco Parkings directs drivers to the Salines car park via the Moyenne Corniche: from there it is about 15 minutes on foot through the signposted Galerie des Salines, or a short ride on the shuttles laid on by the Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco. Leaving the car behind

Monaco is small and well served: most car parks are a few minutes from a bus stop, and the public lifts and escalators take care of the climbs. Once parked, the CAM bus network, MonaBike bicycles and Mobee car sharing are usually quicker than moving the car again. The Monapass app gathers bus tickets, MonaBike subscriptions and tickets for the few outdoor parking spaces in one account.
