The helicopter is sold on seven minutes, but that number only covers the time in the air. What matters when you have a plane to catch is door to terminal. Monaco → Nice: working back from your flight
A typical Monacair departure goes like this:
- Pick-up at your address: the driver arrives about 30 minutes before take-off and takes you to the heliport in Fontvieille.
- Flight: about 7 minutes.
- At Nice: you are driven from the helicopter pads to the terminal. The airport lists the helicopter lounges in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
In total, allow about 45 minutes from your door to the terminal. After that, the airline's rules apply: check-in and bag-drop deadlines, security, and passport control for non-Schengen flights.

These are working margins, not guarantees. On Grand Prix, Yacht Show or summer weekends, allow more time by road. The helicopter gains most on exactly those days.
Nice → Monaco: after you land
- Collect your bags and go to the operator's lounge. Your confirmation names the terminal.
- You are driven to the helicopter. If your plane is late, the operator puts you on a later departure; shuttles leave every 30 minutes.
- You land in Fontvieille, and with Monacair an electric van takes you to your address anywhere in Monaco.
If your plane lands after dark, there is no helicopter. The last shuttle leaves before nightfall, and there are no night flights.
When the helicopter is the wrong choice
- Winter mornings with low cloud: flights may be held. With a long-haul connection, a car is the safer bet.
- Bulky luggage: the hold is small. Several large suitcases, a pushchair or golf bags need declaring, and may travel by road anyway.
- A late-evening flight home: check the last departure time for the season before you plan around it.

Weather and cancellations
Helicopters on this route fly by sight. Low cloud, reduced visibility and strong wind can delay or cancel flights, mostly between November and March. When you book, ask what the operator does if the flight cannot take off, typically whether they drive you instead.
