Overview

Social security (CCSS)

The Caisses Sociales de Monaco (CCSS) is the social security body for Monaco. If you work in Monaco, both you and your employer contribute to the CCSS. Coverage includes:

  • ~70–80% reimbursement for standard GP and specialist consultations
  • Hospital care coverage
  • Maternity and paternity benefits
  • Prescribed medication, laboratory tests, and physiotherapy

Many residents also take out a mutuelle (complementary private insurance) to cover the remaining portion not reimbursed by the CCSS.

Registration: when you start employment in Monaco, your employer registers you with the CCSS. Self-employed individuals and non-working residents must contact the Caisses Sociales directly.

Monaco Santé

Monaco Santé (monacosante.mc) is the official health information platform for the Principality. It provides:

  • A directory of healthcare practitioners in Monaco
  • Health news and practical information
  • Resources for patients and visitors

Doctors and specialists

Monaco has a broad range of general practitioners and specialists. Patients choose their own doctor freely. GP consultation fees typically range from 45 to 150 EUR depending on the provider and your insurance card type (green or pink card).
