Internet Connectivity: WiFi access and broadband
Guide to WiFi hotspots, internet access, broadband providers, and connectivity in Monaco

WiFi and Internet in Monaco
Monaco has some of the fastest internet in the world and near-universal connectivity across the principality. The main telecommunications provider is Monaco Telecom, which operates the fixed-line, broadband, and mobile networks. Free public WiFi is widely available throughout Monaco.
Public WiFi Access
Monaco offers a free public WiFi network called MonacoWiFi, accessible across the principality in public areas, gardens, and near government buildings. No registration is required for basic access.
Additionally, most cafés, restaurants, hotels, and shopping centres provide their own WiFi for guests. The Médiathèque de Monaco and other cultural venues offer free WiFi to visitors.
For secure transactions, avoid public WiFi for banking or sensitive activities unless using a VPN.
Home Broadband Providers
Monaco Telecom is the primary broadband provider in the principality, offering fibre-optic connections to most residential buildings. Packages include:
- Fibre broadband with speeds up to 1 Gbps (and higher for premium plans)
- Triple-play bundles combining internet, TV, and fixed-line telephone
- Business-grade connections with dedicated bandwidth and SLAs
Monaco Telecom's fibre network covers the vast majority of the principality. Installation typically takes 1-2 weeks after application. Contracts are usually 12 months.

Internet Speeds
Monaco consistently ranks among the fastest countries in the world for internet speed. Average download speeds exceed 200 Mbps, with fibre connections commonly delivering 500 Mbps to 1 Gbps. Monaco's small geographic area and modern infrastructure contribute to this exceptional performance.
Mobile Internet
Monaco Telecom is the sole mobile network operator in Monaco, offering 4G and 5G coverage throughout the principality. Mobile plans include:
- Postpaid contracts with data allowances from 5 GB to unlimited
- Prepaid SIM cards available at Monaco Telecom shops
- Roaming: EU roaming regulations apply; visitors from EU countries can use their home data plans
Monaco Telecom shops are located in the Galerie du Métropole (Monte-Carlo) and the commercial centre of Fontvieille.
Cybersecurity and Safety
Use VPN services on public WiFi for sensitive activities. Keep passwords strong and enable two-factor authentication. The Monaco government actively promotes digital security through the Agence Monégasque de Sécurité Numérique (AMSN).
