One network, one operator
Monaco has a single mobile network: Monaco Telecom, owned 55% by Xavier Niel's NJJ group (the founder of Free in France) and 45% by the Monegasque State. There is no carrier to choose, only a plan. In exchange the coverage is complete — 4G and 5G across the whole Principality. Monaco was the first country fully covered by 5G, switched on with Huawei equipment on 9 July 2019; any recent plan includes 5G if your handset supports it.
The Live plans in 2026
All current plans include unlimited calls and texts within and between Monaco and mainland France, and their data allowance works in Monaco, mainland France and the Europe zone. SIM-only list prices in October 2026:

The fibre discount is large enough that a household taking home fibre should compare the combined bill. Live Monaco (€19.99, 100 GB plus unlimited data inside Monaco) is reserved for Monegasques and enfants du pays. Plans bought with a handset cost more and carry a 24-month commitment; most SIM-only plans are also sold on 24 months, so ask in the shop about no-commitment versions.
For a tablet or a second device there are data-only plans: Live Digital Connected 5G, 50 GB in Europe, is €44.99 a month, or €24.99 for fibre customers and under-26s.
Getting a SIM
Go to one of the two shops with an identity document (passport or ID card), proof of a Monaco address and your bank details for the direct debit. Activation is normally same-day.
- Boutique Monte-Carlo — 27 boulevard des Moulins. Monday–Friday 10:00–13:00 and 14:00–19:00.
- Boutique Fontvieille — 9 rue du Gabian. Monday–Friday 09:00–18:00, Saturday 09:00–17:30. The Tech Corner in the same building is an Apple-authorised repair centre.
Customer service answers on +377 99 66 33 00 (service.client@monaco-telecom.mc) every day from 08:00 to 22:00. A virtual assistant also answers on WhatsApp at +377 377 10 000.
Monaco numbers use the +377 country code, not the French +33 — worth remembering when giving your number to French businesses and administrations.
Roaming
Residents: France and the Europe zone are built into the Live plans, so daily trips to Nice, Menton or Italy cost nothing extra. Outside those zones Monaco Telecom sells travel passes; Live Traveller is the plan to consider if you call North America often.
Visitors: Monaco is not in the European Union, so EU "roam like at home" rules do not cover it automatically. Many European operators include Monaco anyway; others bill it as a non-EU destination. Check before you arrive. Close to the border your phone may also hop between the Monegasque and French networks.
