MonaPass
Monaco's free official app for bus tickets and passes, MonaBike, on-street parking and e-tickets for museums, cinemas and AS Monaco: what it does, what it costs and what it does not do.
MonaPass is a smartphone app, not a card. It was launched by the Prince's Government together with the Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco (CAM) and the Mairie de Monaco to put the Principality's tickets in one place: bus, MonaBike, on-street parking and e-tickets for a number of venues. It is free to download on iOS and Android, and it is meant as much for visitors and cross-border commuters as for residents.
Older guides, including earlier versions of this page, described MonaPass as a "multi-service resident card" issued at the Mairie with free transport for young people. That card does not exist. CAM's nominative passes are physical cards issued at the CAM agency, and there is no free travel for under-26s.
What you can do with it
- Buy CAM bus tickets and passes: single journey, 24-hour pass, 10-journey pass, group pass, and the 7-day, monthly and annual passes. You show a QR code to the validator each time you board.
- Apply for reduced and free passes: CAM lets you upload the supporting documents for the under-26, school and senior passes in the app instead of going to the agency.
- Top up an annual pass that CAM has issued on a nominative card.
- Rent a MonaBike and buy MonaBike passes. See the running and cycling guide for the 2026 rates.
- Pay for on-street parking. Underground car parks run by Monaco Parkings (Direction des Parkings Publics) are paid separately; see the parking guide.
- Buy e-tickets for some cultural and leisure venues, including the Oceanographic Museum, Monaco Le Grand Tour, cinemas and AS Monaco home matches. The offer changes, so check the app.
- Check real-time information: next buses, available bikes and MonaBike stations, ticket machines and nearby parking spaces.
- Keep everything in one wallet, including tickets and passes bought outside the app.

The same €1.50 applies if you simply tap a contactless bank card on the validator, with an automatic daily cap of €5.50. A ticket bought from the driver costs €2. What MonaPass does not do
- It is not proof of residence and gives no access to municipal services. Residence formalities go through the Direction de la Sûreté Publique; see the residence permit guide.
- It does not cover lifts and escalators. Monaco's public lifts and escalators are free for everyone, with no ticket needed.
- It does not replace the CAM agency for every pass. The free DASS pass is issued only at the agency, and the €199 annual and €22 monthly passes are issued there on a nominative card. You can then top them up online or, for the annual pass, in MonaPass.
Free bus travel for residents aged 60 and over
Monaco residents aged 60 and over, and Caisse Autonome des Retraites pensioners aged 60 and over, can get a free unlimited annual pass. The supporting documents can be sent through MonaPass or taken to the CAM agency at 22-24 rue du Gabian, Fontvieille (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm). More detail: CAM.
Practical tips
- If you're visiting for a day or two, you don't need an account: paying by contactless bank card on the validator costs the same €1.50 and stops at €5.50 a day.
- Activate the ticket before the bus arrives. Then scan the QR code each time you board, including for a transfer.
- For several people, a 10-journey or group pass can be validated once for each person on a single phone.
