Extended Monaco is the Principality's ambitious digital transformation programme, launched in 2019 under the direction of the government. It aims to position Monaco as one of the world's most connected and digitally advanced micro-states.

Key pillars

5G network

Monaco was one of the first countries in the world to achieve full 5G coverage in 2020, in partnership with Monaco Telecom. The ultra-fast network underpins smart city applications and high-speed connectivity across the entire territory.

E-government: MonGuichet

The MonGuichet platform (monguichet.mc) is the central portal for online administrative services. Residents can:

• Submit and track applications (carte de sejour, business licences)
• Access official documents and certificates
• Communicate with government departments
• Pay fees and taxes online

Digital identity: MConnect

MConnect is Monaco's secure digital identity application. It allows residents to authenticate themselves for government and private services using their smartphone, reducing the need for physical documents.

Cybersecurity: AMSN

The Agence Monegasque de Securite Numerique (AMSN) is responsible for protecting the Principality's digital infrastructure. It sets cybersecurity standards for government and critical services and provides guidance to businesses and residents.

Smart city initiatives

Monaco's small size makes it an ideal testing ground for smart city technology:

• Connected street infrastructure: intelligent lighting, traffic sensors and environmental monitoring
• Digital health: telemedicine services and connected health records at the CHPG
• Smart buildings: energy management systems in new developments including Mareterra

Education and training

The government runs digital skills programmes for residents and businesses, including cybersecurity awareness and training on using online public services. Schools are integrating digital literacy into their curricula.
