Monte-Carlo Golf Club
The Monte-Carlo Golf Club is the premier golfing destination for Monaco residents and visitors, located high above the Principality in the village of La Turbie.
Course: 18 holes, par 71, measuring 5,780 metres. The course is set at approximately 900 metres altitude at the foot of Mont Agel, offering a unique mountain-golf experience with exceptional views.
Scenery: Nine holes overlook the Mediterranean and the coastline down to Monaco, while the other nine face the Southern Alps. On clear days, visibility extends as far as the Italian coast and Corsica.
History: Inaugurated on 16 November 1911, designed by Scottish architect Willie Park Jr. The course was remodelled in 1983 and continues to be maintained to a high standard.
Management: Operated by Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM), the same group that manages Monaco's iconic hotels and casinos.

Practical Tips
- Book tee times in advance during spring and autumn, which are the busiest seasons on the Riviera.
- Temperature at altitude: The Monte-Carlo Golf Club sits at 900 m, so temperatures can be 5–8°C cooler than at sea level. Bring an extra layer, especially in the morning.
- Transport: If you prefer not to drive, taxis from Monaco to La Turbie are straightforward. Some hotel concierges can arrange transfers.
- Dress code: Smart-casual golf attire is expected at all Riviera courses. Collared shirts and proper golf shoes are typically required.
- Combine with dining: The Monte-Carlo Golf Club's clubhouse restaurant is worth a stop even for non-golfers, offering panoramic views and quality cuisine.
