About the Market
The Condamine Market (Marché de la Condamine) is the heart of daily life in Monaco. Located on the Place d'Armes in La Condamine, this covered market has been the principality's main food market for generations. Local vendors sell fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, fish, meats, cheeses, and regional specialities every morning. The surrounding food stalls are a favourite lunchtime destination, serving Monegasque and Nicois dishes such as socca, barbajuan, and pissaladière at accessible prices.
Current Situation: Renovation (2026–2027)
The Condamine Market is currently undergoing a major 13-month renovation: the Mairie closed the hall interior from 15 January 2026. The project aims to modernise the market's infrastructure, improve thermal and acoustic comfort, upgrade ventilation and heating systems, and increase capacity through the creation of two new mezzanines.
During the works, the market operates from a temporary setup on Place d'Armes. Ten purpose-built wooden kiosks house the food vendors, fully equipped with professional-grade facilities including refrigerated displays, pizza ovens, and sushi stations. A 17 m × 10 m marquee seating 65 shelters the remaining businesses, and a second marquee of 12 m × 6 m houses the organic grocer Solis Bio. Eighteen of the twenty-one operators made the move. Seating capacity during the temporary period actually exceeds normal levels, with nearly 300 places available.
The municipality covers all rent, water, and electricity costs for traders during the renovation period. The renovated market is expected to reopen in early 2027.
