Direction de la Communication (Government Press Service)
Monaco's government communication department — press relations, accreditation and official announcements. Successor to the former Monaco Press Centre.
The Direction de la Communication is the Princely Government's communication department and the point of contact for anyone dealing with Monaco's official information. It was created by Sovereign Ordinance no. 5.841 of 13 May 2016 and is attached to the General Secretariat of the Government, under the Minister of State.
It replaced the former Centre de Presse de Monaco (Monaco Press Centre), which no longer exists as a separate body. References to the Press Centre in older directories and press kits should be read as referring to this department.
What it does
The Direction defines the Government's overall communication strategy on the basis of each ministry's needs, and delivers it across every channel: press relations, public information campaigns, digital and social media, and the Government's own broadcast output. It produces official communication materials and handles relations with local, French and international media.
It also oversees the Government's own channels: Monaco Info, the institutional television channel on air since 1995, and MC Channel (monacochannel.mc), the video platform carrying official events, institutional programmes and archive footage.
Press accreditation
Journalists covering Government activity, official ceremonies and institutional events apply for accreditation through the Direction. Accreditation confirms professional status and gives access to official events and press briefings.
Accreditation for major private events is handled separately by the organisers themselves — the Automobile Club de Monaco for the Grand Prix and the Historic Grand Prix, the Monaco Yacht Show, Top Marques, and the Grimaldi Forum for congresses and exhibitions. Deadlines usually fall several weeks in advance.

- Legal texts: laws, sovereign ordinances and ministerial decisions appear in the Journal de Monaco, the official gazette published every Friday. Published texts become enforceable the day after publication.
Note that Monaco has no freedom-of-information statute equivalent to the French or EU regimes: access to administrative documents is not a general legal right, so information requests are exactly that — requests.
