CCSS (Monaco Social Security Funds)

The Caisse de Compensation des Services Sociaux (CCSS) manages compulsory health insurance for employees in the Principality — sickness, maternity, invalidity, death and family benefits. It sits alongside four other funds under the Caisses Sociales de Monaco at 11 rue Louis Notari, open Monday to Friday 08:30–12:00 and 13:30–17:00.

Who needs to go?

Any employee starting work in Monaco is enrolled with the CCSS by their employer — there is no form for you to file. Retirees drawing a Monaco pension are covered too. Self-employed workers do not go through the CCSS: they affiliate to CAMTI for health cover and CARTI for the pension. Most routine business — updating details, following a reimbursement, retrieving your card — is done from the personal space online rather than at the counter.

Main services

The CCSS reimburses consultations, medication, hospital stays and laboratory tests at 80% of the official reference tariff for routine care — around €27.28 on a €34.10 GP consultation. It also pays maternity benefits (18 weeks, 26 from the third child, at 90% of gross daily salary) and sick-leave daily allowances, which start on the fourth day at 50% of gross salary.

Practical tips

Your carte d'immatriculation assuré has been digital only since 2025 — it lives in your CSM personal space or the CSM app, not in your wallet, and paper cards are no longer issued. Give a conventioned practitioner the FSE code it carries and the claim is transmitted electronically, with nothing further for you to send. For the remaining ticket modérateur, take out a mutuelle. Reimbursement claims must be submitted within two years of the date of treatment.
