Who needs to go?
Any employee starting work in Monaco must be enrolled with the CCSS through their employer. You will need to visit to obtain your social insurance card, update your personal details or ask questions about reimbursements. Self-employed workers and retirees also register with the CCSS.
Main services
The CCSS reimburses medical consultations, medication, hospital stays and laboratory tests. The standard reimbursement rate is generally 80% for routine care. It also manages maternity-related benefits and daily allowances in the event of sick leave.
Practical tips
Always carry your social insurance card when visiting a doctor. Electronic care forms simplify the reimbursement process. For full 100% coverage, it is advisable to take out supplementary mutual insurance. Reimbursement claims must be submitted within two years of the date of treatment.
