Moneghetti

Moneghetti clings to the steep hillside in the northwestern part of Monaco, bordering the French town of Beausoleil. Less flashy than its neighbours, this residential quarter has a genuine neighbourhood feel and offers some of the Principality's most remarkable natural attractions.

Key landmarks

The Exotic Garden (Jardin Exotique) is the district's crown jewel, home to an extraordinary collection of cacti and succulents perched on a cliff face with sweeping views of the coast. Beneath it, the Observatory Cave contains impressive stalactite formations open to guided tours. Princess Antoinette Park, shared with La Condamine, provides an olive grove, a play area and a miniature golf course.

Access and daily life

Moneghetti is served by bus lines 2 and 3. The steep terrain means lifts and escalators are essential for getting around, connecting the upper streets to La Condamine below. The Exotic Garden car park serves visitors.

The quarter houses a mixed population, including many workers who live close to the French border. Rents tend to be somewhat lower than in Monte-Carlo or Larvotto, making it attractive to young professionals and families. Daily shopping is done down the hill at the Condamine Market or across the border in Beausoleil, where French prices apply. Moneghetti rewards residents with quiet streets, green spaces and an authentically local atmosphere.
