Le Portier
Monaco's ambitious new eco-district under construction, extending the Principality into the sea

Le Portier, officially known as Anse du Portier, is Monaco's major land-extension project currently under construction off the coast of Larvotto. When completed, it will add roughly six hectares of new land to the Principality, making it the most significant expansion of Monaco since Fontvieille in the 1980s.
The project
The new district is designed as an eco-neighbourhood with ambitious environmental goals. Plans include a large landscaped park, a marina, luxury residential buildings and public spaces. The project prioritises sustainability, with features such as heat pumps drawing energy from seawater, rainwater recycling systems and extensive green areas. An artificial reef has been created offshore to compensate for the marine habitat affected by construction.
Current status
Construction of the protective seawall and infrastructure is ongoing. The first buildings are expected to be delivered in the coming years. The district will primarily house luxury apartments, but the public park and waterfront promenade will be open to all.
What it means for Monaco
Le Portier represents the Principality's answer to its chronic shortage of space. It will relieve pressure on housing, provide new public amenities and anchor Monaco's reputation for forward-looking urban development. Once complete, it will sit between Larvotto beach and the Grimaldi Forum, seamlessly connected to the existing urban fabric.
