La Condamine
Monaco's commercial heart around the Port Hercule, with markets, shops and a lively atmosphere

La Condamine sits in the natural dip between Monaco-Ville and Monte-Carlo, wrapped around the busy Port Hercule. It is the most down-to-earth and commercially active part of the Principality, where residents do their everyday shopping and errands.
Key landmarks
The Condamine Market (Marche de la Condamine) is the social centre of the quarter, with fresh produce stalls in the morning and a popular food court at lunchtime. Rue Princesse Caroline, a pedestrian street, is lined with shops, cafes and restaurants offering a more affordable alternative to Monte-Carlo's luxury scene.
The Church of Sainte-Devote, nestled in the valley, is dedicated to Monaco's patron saint. Nearby, Princess Antoinette Park provides green space and a playground for families. Port Hercule itself transforms throughout the year, hosting the yacht show, the Formula 1 paddock and various public events.
Access and daily life
La Condamine is Monaco's best-connected district, served by multiple bus lines (1, 2, 4 and 6). Most streets are accessible on foot and the area is relatively flat compared with other quarters.
This is where many long-term residents live, drawn by the neighbourhood feel, practical amenities and central location. Families, young professionals and retirees share the area in a genuine mix that sets La Condamine apart from more rarefied parts of Monaco.
