Fontvieille
Monaco's modern quarter built on reclaimed land, combining industry, parks and family-friendly living

Fontvieille is Monaco's newest district, built entirely on land reclaimed from the sea during the 1980s. It occupies the western side of the Principality and offers a markedly different atmosphere from the older quarters: wide avenues, open spaces and modern architecture.
Key landmarks
Fontvieille Park and the adjacent Princess Grace Rose Garden form the largest green area in Monaco, popular with families and joggers. The Stade Louis II, home to AS Monaco football club, is the main sporting venue. Several niche museums are clustered here, including the Top Cars Collection and the Stamp and Coin Museum.
The Fontvieille Shopping Centre provides everyday retail along with a hypermarket, making it one of the most practical shopping destinations in the Principality. A light industrial zone on the district's edge accommodates businesses and logistics.
Access and daily life
Fontvieille is served by bus lines 1, 5 and 6. It connects to Monaco-Ville via escalators and covered walkways. Two large car parks offer plentiful parking.
The district attracts families who value the green spaces, quieter streets and comparatively spacious apartments. Its combination of residential comfort, recreational facilities and practical commerce makes Fontvieille one of the most liveable quarters in Monaco for day-to-day life.
