Japanese cuisine in Monaco
Monaco has two established Japanese addresses: one of the Principality's most refined dining rooms, the other a contemporary casual spot on the new Mareterra waterfront. The offering is deliberately selective — but both establishments take quality seriously.
Nobu Monaco
Level: Fine dining / omakase
Address: 12 Avenue des Spélugues (Fairmont Monte-Carlo), 98000 Monaco

Reopened on 6 March 2026 following a renovation, Nobu Monaco brings the signature contemporary Japanese cuisine of the internationally acclaimed Nobu group. The menu blends seasonal sushi and sashimi with cooked dishes inspired by Japanese techniques. The omakase experience — where the chef composes the meal around the day's best ingredients — is the centrepiece of the restaurant.
Budget: À la carte from €70 to €120 per person. Omakase pricing varies by menu.
Worth knowing: reservations are essential, often several weeks in advance during high season. Smart dress is expected. The Fairmont is one of Monaco's busiest hotels during the Grand Prix, so book well ahead if visiting in May.
99 Sushi Bar
Level: Contemporary casual Japanese
Address: 16 Quai du Petit Portier, Mareterra, 98000 Monaco
Phone: +377 99 92 51 02

Located in Monaco's recently developed Mareterra district, 99 Sushi Bar offers sushi, sashimi, nigiri and chirashi bowls in a relaxed modern setting overlooking the harbour. The atmosphere is informal compared to Nobu — counter seating available, approachable menu, extended service hours (12:00–15:00 and 18:00–23:00).
Budget: €35 to €60 per person.
Worth knowing: good for business lunches and casual dinners alike. The waterfront terrace facing Mareterra is pleasant in season.
