About the Orchestra
The Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo (OPMC) is one of the oldest orchestras in Europe. Founded in 1856 with just 15 musicians, it has grown into a full symphonic ensemble of approximately 100 players. The orchestra operates under the patronage of Princess Caroline of Monaco.
Throughout its history, the OPMC has been at the forefront of musical life in Monaco. The orchestra has premiered works by Massenet, Puccini, Ravel, Fauré and Poulenc, and continues to champion both classical repertoire and contemporary compositions.
Concert Season
The Grande Saison runs from October to June, presenting around 36 symphonic concerts alongside chamber music programmes and the popular Musical Happy Hour format — shorter, accessible lunchtime or early-evening performances.
In summer, the orchestra performs a separate series of open-air concerts in the courtyard of the Prince's Palace, featuring international guest soloists and conductors. The 2026 Palace concerts are expected to feature artists including Martha Argerich and Alexandre Kantorow.
Free pre-concert lectures are held one hour before each symphonic concert, offering insights into the evening's programme.
Venues
