Herculis Monaco

Herculis EBS Monaco is the Principality's annual international athletics meeting and one of the most prestigious fixtures on the Wanda Diamond League calendar. Held each summer at the Stade Louis II, it brings world-class track and field athletes to Fontvieille for a single spectacular evening.

History

The meeting was first held in 1987 and has grown into a regular stop on the global athletics circuit. It became part of the Diamond League when the series launched in 2010, cementing Monaco's status as a host of elite athletics. The event is supported by the Monegasque Athletics Federation and enjoys the patronage of Prince Albert II.

What to expect

Herculis features a programme of around a dozen events covering sprints, hurdles, middle-distance races, jumps and throws. The compact one-evening format creates an intense, fast-paced spectacle. Highlights typically include:

  • 100m and 200m sprints: featuring Olympic and World Championship medallists
  • 1500m and 3000m steeplechase: Monaco's warm conditions often produce fast times
  • High jump and pole vault: spectacular field events under floodlights
  • Javelin or shot put: rotating throws disciplines

The warm Mediterranean summer evenings, combined with an excellent track surface, have produced numerous world records and personal bests over the years.
