Pendulaire
A person who commutes daily across the border to work in Monaco while residing in a neighbouring country, typically France or Italy.
Pendulaires make up the majority of Monaco's workforce. Over 50,000 people commute into the Principality each day, mainly from towns along the French Riviera such as Nice, Menton, Beausoleil and Cap-d'Ail. Unlike residents, pendulaires do not hold a carte de sejour, but they are registered with the social security system (CCSS) through their employer. The daily flow of commuters significantly affects traffic and public transport, especially during peak hours.
