Monaco National Day
Monaco's national holiday celebrating the Principality and the Grimaldi dynasty

Monaco National Day, known locally as La Fete Nationale, is celebrated each year on November 19th. The date is tied to the feast day of the patron saint chosen by the reigning prince and has been observed on this date since Prince Rainier III's reign. It is the most important public holiday in the principality, celebrating Monegasque identity, sovereignty, and the ruling Grimaldi dynasty.
The day begins with a solemn morning Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate in Monaco-Ville, attended by the Princely Family, government officials, and dignitaries. Following the service, a military parade and review take place on the Palace Square, where the Prince addresses the nation. The Carabiniers du Prince and other military corps participate in the colourful ceremony.
Throughout the day, the Monegasque flag flies from public buildings and private residences alike. Festivities continue into the evening with a gala concert, fireworks over the harbour, and celebrations in public squares across the principality. It is a deeply felt occasion for Monegasque nationals and residents, blending pageantry with genuine national pride. Many businesses and public services close for the day, so visitors should plan accordingly.
