Yacht Club de Monaco
Prestigious yacht club founded by Prince Rainier III, housed in a Norman Foster–designed landmark at Port Hercule
The Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM) is one of the world's most prestigious nautical clubs, founded in 1953 by Prince Rainier III. Under the presidency of Prince Albert II, the club today counts over 2,500 members from more than 70 countries.
The Building
In 2014 the YCM moved into a striking modern building designed by Sir Norman Foster on the Quai Louis II at the edge of Port Hercule. The architectural landmark, whose profile evokes the hull of a large sailing yacht, spans roughly 7,000 m². Facilities include two restaurants, a panoramic terrace bar, a members' pool, conference and event spaces, and a dedicated sailing school for young sailors.
Regattas and Events
The club organises a packed calendar of international nautical events, including the Primo Cup (one of the Mediterranean's largest spring regattas), Monaco Classic Week (a biennial gathering of vintage yachts), the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series, and the Monaco Yacht Show dock events. The YCM is also a strong advocate for sustainable yachting and hosts the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, promoting alternative propulsion technologies.
Membership and Access
Membership is by invitation and requires sponsorship from existing members. Non-members can visit the ground-floor public areas, attend selected open events, and enjoy the waterfront promenade that runs along the building's base. The club shop sells branded merchandise.
