Stade Nautique Rainier III
Open-air Olympic-size seawater pool on the port of Monaco, open from May to October
The Stade Nautique Rainier III is Monaco's principal public swimming facility, set on the Quai Albert 1er alongside Port Hercules in the La Condamine district. The complex centres on an Olympic-size pool (50 m x 25 m) filled with filtered and heated seawater maintained at approximately 26°C, offering a unique open-air swimming experience with views of the harbour and the Rock.
Facilities
The complex features diving boards at 1, 3, 5, and 10 metres, a 45-metre water slide, a children's flume, a solarium terrace, and changing facilities with lockers. Spectator seating surrounds the main pool. The facility also hosts local swimming clubs and water polo training.
Season and Hours
The pool operates seasonally from early May to early October. During opening and closing months (May–June and September–October), hours typically run from 09:00 to 17:40, with early opening at 07:00 on Wednesdays. Peak summer hours (July–August) are extended. Exact schedules vary each year and are published on the Mairie website.
2026 Season and Tariffs
The 2026 season runs from 1 May to 7 October. Entry is charged per visit and no booking is required:
| Adult | Ages 3–17 | |
|---|---|---|
| Non-resident | €12 | €9 |
| Monaco resident | €6 | €4.50 |
Children under 3 enter free, and Monaco residents aged 60 and over swim free. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Deckchairs and parasols are available to rent on site.
Winter Use
From December to March the pool is covered over and the site operates as a 1,000 m² open-air ice rink, with a smaller rink alongside for young children. This is why the swimming season closes in early October rather than running later into the autumn.
Practical Information
The pool welcomes swimmers of all levels, from recreational visitors to competitive club members, and also hosts swimming and aquagym lessons. For a year-round indoor alternative, the Centre Nautique Prince Albert II at the Stade Louis II charges €3.20 per entry. Both are compared in the spa and wellness guide.
