Stade Louis II

The Stade Louis II is Monaco's principal sports venue, located in the Fontvieille district near the border with Cap-d'Ail. Inaugurated on 25 January 1985 by Prince Rainier III, the stadium serves as the home ground of AS Monaco FC and is the centrepiece of a multi-sport complex that embodies the Principality's commitment to sport at the highest level.

The stadium has a seating capacity of approximately 18,500 for football matches and hosts AS Monaco's Ligue 1 fixtures as well as European competition nights. On match days, the atmosphere is lively despite the relatively compact size, with the Virage Sud housing the most vocal supporters.

Beyond football, the Stade Louis II is renowned for the Herculis international athletics meeting, a prestigious fixture on the Diamond League calendar. Held annually in July, Herculis attracts world-class sprinters, jumpers, and throwers, and has witnessed numerous world records over the decades.
