Larvotto Beach
Monaco's main public beach, fully renovated in 2021 with modern promenade, free access, and full facilities on the Mediterranean

Overview
Larvotto Beach is Monaco's principal public beach, stretching approximately 400 metres along the eastern coastline of the Principality. Reopened on 3 July 2021 after a major renovation designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop, the beach and its surrounding promenade now offer a modern, landscaped waterfront experience. Access to the public sections is free year-round.
The 2021 Renovation
The Larvotto Regeneration Project transformed the beach area with a new two-level esplanade overlooking the sea, approximately 10,000 m2 of restaurants, cafes, and retail space at promenade level, 130 newly planted trees, a cycling path, an outdoor fitness area, and a 298 m2 children's play zone with rope courses and wooden structures for ages 5 to 14.
Beach Characteristics
The beach surface consists of fine, smooth pebbles — comfortable for towels but beach shoes are recommended. The water is clear Mediterranean, protected from waves by underwater geotubes that create calm swimming conditions. Jellyfish nets are installed from June through September for added safety.
