Oceanographic Museum of Monaco
World-renowned marine science museum on the Rock of Monaco
Overview
The Oceanographic Museum of Monaco is a world-famous institution dedicated to marine science, perched dramatically on the cliff face of the Rock of Monaco since 1910. Founded by Prince Albert I, a passionate oceanographer, the museum houses an impressive aquarium with over 6,000 marine specimens across more than 100 tanks, including a shark lagoon and a coral reef exhibit. The upper floors feature exhibitions on ocean exploration, marine biodiversity, and environmental conservation. The rooftop terrace offers sweeping views across the Mediterranean. The museum plays an active role in ocean conservation research and awareness, making it both an educational experience and one of Monaco's most visited attractions.
