L'Épi d'Or
Historic artisan bakery on Rue Grimaldi, run by the Pani family for over 60 years — known for sourdough baguettes, frangipane tarts, and traditional Monegasque fougasse.
Overview
L'Épi d'Or is a family-run bakery at 6 Rue Grimaldi in La Condamine, operating from a building that has housed a boulangerie since 1903 — the inscription is still visible on the facade. Three generations of the Pani family have run the shop, and it is widely regarded as one of Monaco's best bakeries. The display includes sourdough baguettes, frangipane tarts, sweet cakes, and the traditional Monegasque fougasse — a flatbread scented with anise, hazelnuts, almonds, and orange blossom. L'Épi d'Or is also known as the bakery that supplies pastries to the Prince's Palace. Open early each morning, the compact café area serves coffee alongside fresh pastries for a quick breakfast. An eco-conscious approach encourages reusable bags and in-store dishware.
